Uniform System of Assessment, Examination and Report Card for classes VI- IX.

As you are aware, the CBSE has restored Board Examination for class X and revised assessment structure and examination for class X from Academic Year 2017-18 onwards. This new scheme will bring the uniformity in the system of assessment and examination for classes IX and X in all the CBSE affiliated schools. To increase the confidence in the students to start preparing for class X Board examination when they join the upper primary stage in class VI, the CBSE has decided to implement the uniform system of assessment, examination pattern and issue of report cards for classes VI to VIII also on the similar pattern. While keeping in view the provisions of Right to Education Act, 2009, the scheme for classes VI-VIII has been designed on Term Assessment basis with gradual increase in the learning assessment as the students move forward. This would prepare the students to cover the whole syllabus of the academic year and face the challenge of class X Board examination, and would thus, ensure the ‘quality of education’.

As we are required to follow the NCERT syllabus in the upper primary stage, uniformity in the assessment structure, examination and issue of report cards across all the affiliated schools is felt necessary from class VI to VIII. The detail components of the scheme are mentioned below for easy understanding and implementation.

Promotion to the higher class is based on the child’s performance during the academic year. A record of internal assessment is maintained for this purpose. House System Progress and proficiency is ensured through the house system by which students participate in all curricular and co-curricular activities in a healthy spirit of competition. The Houses -- Midhila, Nalandha, Thakshasila, and Ujjaini -- function under the guidance of House Teachers with the active involvement of House captains. Co-curricular Section One of the special features of our school is the provision of giving meticulous instructions in Transcendental meditation. The promotives of the school are highly inspired by the teachings of H.H. Masharshi Mahesh Yogi. The master of Transcendental meditation and the foremost scientists in the field of consciousness. The core of Maharshiji’s teachings in the area of education is "Knowledge is structured in consciousness" and “Knowledge is different in different states of consciousness.“ It is a known fact that to gain real knowledge one has to develop his own consciousness. Unfortunately this knowledge or a technique to develop consciousness is missing in the present system of education. Therefore, at Sree Maharshi vidyalaya all the students are trained in the practice of Transcendental meditation which helps everyone to develop his full mental potential, improved health, improved social behavior and coherence in national consciousness. This also enables our students to gain greater intelligence, Superior brain wave functioning, improved concentration, comprehension of memory, learning ability, speed in solving problems, heightened academic performance, improved moral reasoning, enhanced mind body co-ordination and athletic performance, stress management and ideal social behavior.
